Newtownbrook Neighbourhood Real Estate

Newtonbrook is a well established community in the former City of North York which is now part of the City of Toronto.

Along the northern boundary of the City of Toronto you will find the Newtonbrook area which is nestled between the east and west branches of the Don River Valley which provides access to great recreation and serine ravine views. The Newtonbrook area is a mature area and has many small parks and playgrounds distributed throughout the area along with a good choice of schools which makes it a good family neighbourhood.

In the Newtonbrook area most homes were built in the 1960’s but there are some homes dating as far back as the 1920’s. The area generally is filled with split-level homes, bungalows, 1.5 storey homes and 2 storey homes on large sized lots which makes it an ideal area for rebuilding and new development. There are homes in the area that have recently been extensively renovated or rebuilt. The area also has higher density development including condominiums and townhomes in the west side of the area. Along Bayview Avenue there are some newer townhomes. There are also a number of rental high rise apartment buildings along Bathurst street.

Newtonbrook is easily accessible for both motorists and pedestrians. Motorists have access to Highway 401 via Yonge Street and via Bayview, which also provides access into downtown. Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) riders have excellent bus service along Sheppard and Finch connecting to the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line, and Bayview connecting to the Sheppard Rapid Transit line, east to Don Mills. At the Downsview subway station, transit riders can transfer to York Region Transit's Viva express routes to Vaughan, passing through York University. York University is easily accessible via Steeles Ave, and University of Toronto and Ryerson University are easily accessible via  the Yonge Street subway. At the Finch subway station, transit riders can transfer to York Region Transit's Viva express routes serving Richmond Hill, Markham and Thornhill.
