Rosedale Neighbourhood Real Estate
As one of Toronto's most exclusive neighbourhoods for the past 160 years, Rosedale is the dream neighbourhood for real estate.
Rosedale was founded in the 1820’s by Sherriff William Jarvis Botsford, who also co-founded Yorkville. His wife Mary named the property in tribute to the plentiful wild roses that graced its land.
After selling the homestead in 1864, the development of the South Rosedale subdivision began. Development of North Rosedale followed in 1909, after the bridge over the Park Drive Ravine was built.
Trivia buffs might be thrilled to learn that prior to the development of North Rosedale, its lands had been the home of the Rosedale Golf Club and also hosted the Canadian Football League’s first Grey Cup game.
Both South and North Rosedale are designated as City of Toronto heritage districts.
