Lawrence Park Neighbourhood
Lawrence Park was founded in 1907 by the Dovercourt Land Building and Saving Company. They obtained the land from John Lawrence, after whom this neighbourhood is named. Under the guidance of this company, Lawrence Park was established as an upper class residential area. In fact, the first advertisement called it an “aristocratic neighbourhood.”
Lawrence Park has maintained its exclusive status as one of Toronto's most elite residential neighbourhoods. The borders are Yonge Street to the west, Bayview Avenue to the east, Blythwood Ravine to the south and Lawrence Avenue on the north.
The location provides a relaxing setting with gently rolling hills, winding roads and a luxurious green scenery. Homes in Lawrence Park are available in beautiful architectural styles such as English Cottage, Tudor Revival and Georgian and Colonial. The majority of the homes were built between 1910 and the late 1940's. Housing prices range from $900,000 to $2,000,000+. The higher priced homes are newly built with the latest architectural designs and amenities. With all these wonderful features in highly sought after neighbourhood, it is no surprise that these homes are highly sought after.
Another reason why this elite family friendly neighbourhood is in such demand is the first-rate education choices for children, such as Lawrence Park Collegiate and the Toronto French School.
Transportation is highly accessible to residents in Lawrence Park, as many bus routes run along Yonge Street, Mount Pleasant Road, Bayview Avenue, and Lawrence Avenue. The Lawrence subway station, which is located at the intersection of Yonge and Lawrence, provides easy access to downtown Toronto.
Lawrence Park provides a variety of upper scale shopping for its residents, including fashion stores, children's stores, sporting goods stores, gift shops, bakeries, and gourmet coffee shops.
